Life Safety- Whats more important than getting out? __~NOTHING
Several years ago we launched an intensive research project into life safety codes, as they applied to doors that required more than one exiting motion. This was obviously more critical for SCIF’s and other high security areas where a combination lock and either a leverset or exit bar were both on the same door. The two locks combined required more than a single motion to exit.
To our surprise we discovered that the current life safety codes already required a single motion to exit any door in the means of egress, including doors with combination locks. Strict enforcement by both Fire Marshall’s and Specifier’s was already well underway.
For more detailed information on the specific life safety codes and rules for single motion egress refer to Tutorials [listed in sidebar].
